Answers to Your Questions

General

We do include that our products are grass finished, although it's worded differently. The “100% Grass Fed Beef” statement—along with our company tagline “Lifetime Grazed”—validates that all our cattle are in fact grass finished. Holistically grazing cattle for their lifetime is a higher standard than merely grass finishing, which, in the case of some other brands’ products, “grass finished” may involve feed lot confinement and/or a grain diet prior to the animal being moved to a grass diet later in life.

Never. All our animals are raised without the use of antibiotics or added hormones. This aligns with our commitment to high integrity, regenerative, and holistic animal care.

Although we do not currently sell whole, halves, primal cuts or other various sizes of beef direct, we do offer a quarter cow bundle for purchase through our website. https://thousandhillslifetimegrazed.com/product/beef-quarter-grass-fed-cow/

Regenerative agriculture is a set of practices focused on improving soil health, increasing biodiversity, and sequestering carbon—all while raising livestock holistically. At Thousand Hills, this means rotationally grazing animals to mimic nature, never overgrazing the land, and working in harmony with wildlife and native ecosystems. We’re proud to be third-party certified by the American Grassfed Association and Audubon Conservation Ranching.

Our cattle are born, raised, and processed in the USA. We source our cattle from 40+ hand selected family farms/ranches, including our home farm in Clearwater, Minnesota. All our producers strictly adhere to our protocol of holistic grazing cattle for their lifetime.

We can proudly say our products do not contain LFTB (lean finely textured beef), BLBT (boneless lean beef trimmings) a.k.a. “pink slime” or MTG (microbial transglutaminase a.k.a. “meat glue” it binds proteins together.)

While our meat products are generally considered gluten free, some of our processing facilities do handle other vendor products that may contain gluten. Therefore, our products are not certified gluten free.

Our Regenerative line (non-certified organic) is beyond organic due to the protocols that we have in place being stricter than the requirements for the USDA's organic certification. Our holistic regenerative farming practices are third party certified by the American Grassfed Association (AGA) and Audubon Conservation Ranching (ACR). Please feel free to check out their websites for more information on their protocols for certification.

AGA: https://www.americangrassfed.org/become-a-certified-producer/

ACR: https://www.audubon.org/our-work/prairies-and-forests/ranching

Our organic products come from an organic certified ranch that does not have AGA or ACR certifications, however, does adhere to our strict regenerative practices and protocols. We do understand that some people are more familiar with the USDA’s certification and that is why we only provide this certification on certain products to keep the cost down for our customers.

Thousand Hills production is strategically located in U.S. regions with passionate cattle producers and small/midsized processing plants. They are designed for specialized production, not huge plants with excessive line speeds or obsessed with volume. The bulk of our product is processed at Lorentz Meats in Cannon Falls, MN or at our primary facility in Becker, MN. All our processors specialize in meat craftmanship and small batch production style.

“Lifetime Grazed” is our promise that every animal we raise is 100% grass fed and holistically grazed from birth to harvest—no exceptions. This goes beyond common “grass finished” claims, ensuring animals are never confined to feedlots and never fed grains at any point in their lives.

Shipping Inquiries

At this time we are only using UPS.

We are able to ship to physical addresses anywhere in the lower 48 states. We are not able to ship to PO boxes.

All orders are shipped frozen in a recyclable box insulated with padding and several ice OR dry ice packs that typically stay cool 3-4 days in transit. While we do everything we possibly can for the orders to arrive frozen, we cannot guarantee it. Unfortunately, once the shipping company has your order it is out of our control. Choosing a faster shipping method may improve your outcome.

  • We do not have a flat-rate shipping fee. To view your shipping options and fees please add the desired items to your shopping cart and select the “Proceed to checkout” button. Then, enter your billing address into the appropriate fields. If you are shipping to a different address, select the "Ship to a different address?" box and enter your shipping address. The shipping rates will then populate for you. You do not need to enter card information or process an order to see the rates.
  • Free shipping is available on orders of $299 or more and that are located within the ground shipping zone from Becker, MN.
  • During the warmer months the ground shipping zone is decreased to 2-day ground to help ensure orders arrive promptly. Once we have consistently cooler temperatures the zone will expand to 3-day ground

We do not insure orders nor do we require signatures due to product integrity concerns. When signatures are required—and the recipient isn’t available to sign for the package—the shipper will take the package back and try to deliver the next day or until the recipient is present. As you can imagine, these delays can have an adverse effect on the condition of the meat.

Since your card has already been charged, we cannot change the shipping method or destination.

  • Images of the front and back of the packaging showing the EST number and freeze by date/lot code.
  • Image of concern.

Our product is packaged in vacuum sealed packaging, removing the air from the package minimizes the risk of freezer burn and extends the life of the meat. The natural juices within the meat can start to discolor and develop a tangy odor during storage. When the package is opened this odor is released.

If you are used to conventional grain-fed beef, the grass-fed meat will smell sweeter in comparison. It’s all about the fat that is creating the aroma and taste. Since there are so many more micronutrients building the fats, it causes the beef to have more flavor and exhibits softer texture as well.
